Default Oil Change Procedure??? Standing the atv perpendicular??

My Kawasaki mainenance manual says that I should stand the atv perpendicular to the ground when I change the oil. Is this necessary, or can I just change it like any vehicle????

you can change it like any other vehicle...it's easy to get at if it's on the rear tires though

Now you never know though, your quad might have a really strange oil pan or something and need to be tipped rearward for the oil to reach the drain hole. Try the best of both worlds to be sure. Drain the oil with it sitting flat on the ground and then tip it rearward for a moment. If you get anymore oil, then you know Kawasaki wasn't just interested in seeing you struggle to lift your quad up. If you don't get anymore oil, give your manual a funny look and then change the oil as your normally would.
