Just installed Dyna CDI...problem
#1
I just installed a Dyna CDI and my P650 is missing out when you nail the throttle. Is this the symptom that some were seeing with a bad CDI? I must say it is a huge difference right off idle when you nail it...I almost flipped the first time I nailed the throttle, but then it starts missing just like when you hit a rev limiter. This sucks because I'm about to leave for Colorado and wanted to finish all my mods before I leave. I'm calling them on Mon. and see about a refund, then maybe go with the DG module.

I had so many problems with the Dyna ignition that I finally sent it back and would not settle for another replacement. I have had my DG5 installed for 6 months with not one problem and yes the power is very strong and I saved a hundred bucks.

In the long run you will be much happier with the Dyna, no comparison in total performance (low, mid and high)rpm boost. The no limp mode and best of all reverse overide disabled is worth it alone.
I went through bad CDI out of the box from Dyna but I have had mine in for 4 months and couldn't be happier.

Well, after some tuning I would say its working as it should. I searched the forums and it seems that most failures were hard failures, or at least very obvious. I started thinking about it and put it back on today, and it pulls so strong off the bottom end, I thought it seems to be working like it should there. I thought back to tuning cars, and remembered that when you advance the timing it makes a richer mixture. Being this box is advancing the timing quite a bit over stock, maybe it was too rich. I did a test run and when it started missing under full throttle I pulled the choke a little and it got worse, confirming my thinking. I'm running 142F/145R, so I jetted down to 138F/142R...what do you know, back to stock. Went for a test ride...will pull the front wheels straight up and keeps reving as long as you can hold on to it. This is how it goes I guess with tuning...I'm even running without a snorkel, and I'm at ~500ft. I would not have thought I would be running the mains that I am. I've still got a Wide Band O2 sensor setup like they use on a dyno...I used to do chip programming and it was essential on cars...but I'm thinking about riggin it up on the exhaust of the Prairie to see where I'm at.

Now you need the Dalton Orange/blue primary spring and top end clutch mod. Mine does over 50MPH in Lo gear & POWER is BRUTAL in Lo with Orange/Blue spring. 50 is scarey fast on the trails. Started down a little hill the other day and grabbed the throttle instead of brake and wheelied down hill. So, Be careful grabbing throttle. You can get "white-Knuckles" in a hurry, not to mention a severe case of Road Rash or a new model tree climber.
