Even the motocross bikes are different. They have both stated a long time ago that the full-on race quads will both be independent efforts. Just because they have an alliance, doesn't mean everything is shared.

Well the 400's are the same atv with different colors.....this is common knowledge. Can you direct us to this info about 450's (or whatever the engine size will be) being separate?

You are correct about the KFX/Z/DVX 400 being exactly the same. However, I thought almost everyone knew that the 450 race machines will be solo efforts. I'm sure someone will back me up on this soon. The mx bikes are different.

If you have been keeping up with the news, back in May they both said that the partnership was ending after this year. The new 450's will be different. I would not place any money on it being 500cc instead of 450cc. They would lose more sales making it 500 instead of 450cc in the long run because of local ATVA races. this is the same reason that Honda doesn't have a 650 quad.

kaw's not big in to the gnnc mx races the the others are.kaw more into gnnc xc racing they use to sponsor it.in gnnc xc the cc limit is all the way to 525cc.they make sales if they make more of a sport quad plus after 2007 like i said the kfx is gone so a 500cc efi with reverse would sale very well to replace the kfx.

The new 450 race quads are independent efforts. 2005 marked the last year for the Kawi built suzuki's and 2006 is to be the last year for Kawi to have suzuki built products. They have redone there deal to where whole products will no longer be shared but joint componet sharing will continue in some areas as a cost saving measure for the both of them. without cutting into each others sales so much as offering of different clones.

I dont think kawasaki would make it a 4 speed it would be a bad move on their part it would limit it to a full time mx'r. Since most of the people I know who have 450s dont even race or spend time at a track but maybe 25% of their riding time the market would shrink for it unless its truely one badass machine.
