Hey , lets dont jump on the raptor 700(or should i say 686) band wagon just yet. They had 2 come out with the new raptor because the OG 660 was getting its *** handed 2 it by a quad 115lbs heaver than it. The big dissapointment in all of this is the raptor 660. The KFX 700 (V) forced Yamaha 2 revamp the raptor . Thats just how I see it.

 

if any of you have a 660 raptor you can easily give it the same size engine by just replacing the cyclinder wall with a 102mm

The KFX700 is a great machine but dont fool yourself into thinking that its a performance challenge to the Raptor, old or new.

 

Is this like Alien vs. Predator or Godzilla vs. King Kong?? Or maybe Mace Windu vs. Yoda???

The Raptor wins every shootout vs. the KFX for overall superiority. But the KFX is a unique machine for certain tastes I guess.

I'm a Kawi guy, but I'll take a Raptor any day and I couldn't give a rats a$$ about drag speeds.

 

OK. Youre right. I am smokin, Raptors. Now Im not talking pro races , dont watch them . But plenty of us race on the weekends . The kFX 700s in drags always beat the 660s. (both modded) in fact I dont even worry about the 660s, Im trying 2 edge out the 450s.(easier said than done ) You must not have raced a pipped ,jetted ,and springed 700.

 

Point noted . Dont get a 660 if you care about drag speeds.

 

You're right. I've never raced one, modde or otherwise because I'm not one for racing. I'd rather ride and test myself against the terrain.

 

I don't. I'll take good handling and power anyday over drag speeds. Top speed does me no good when I'm roosting thru the woods.

 

Well , not too drag this out ,but most would agree that the KFX is better in the woods . #1 no clutch #2 better clearance #3 way more low end Power . Now on track, I guess the 660 has an edge . But not in the woods. No way , no how . Oh and handling and power , Raptors are way 2 top heavy, and V Twin =Power

 

Yeah, mod the bike and away you go. The paramaters for feul injection isn't limitless. toss in some cams and open up the airbox and larger injectors and algorithm remapping are in order.
