Default Any problem with painting my engine?

I have a Kaw Bayou 400 liquid cooled. Did the motor over and wanted to know does anyone see a problem with painting the engine and trans black? I know others are black from the manufacturer and didn't see why this would hurt. Liquid cooled, I don't know, that's why I'm askin.

Paint away. You will have no problem. It's always better to paint an engine a dark color. You choose black so all the better.

Paint away? Maybe you should use engine paint. Or high heat ceramic paint.

Engine paint should go without saying, but preparation is everything. By the way, nice dental work, Camo............

You can use any paint you want. It does not have to be high temp. It's water cooled. I've used plain automotive enamel on many water cooled engines with no problems at all. Pipes and air cooled jugs are a different story.
You can even go down to your friendly automotive paint store and pick any fancy color you want. You said you like black so just get a good brand of rattle can paint and have at it.
Like kwackermann said, prep it good and you will not have any problems.

I used to build street rods and we used the same paint we did on the body. Basecoat/clearcoat. I know it worked great on them,,,,,but,,,,,I just wanted to make sure. I didn't want the stuff peelin off down the road. As far as prep work, I understand the importance of correct prepping. Your very right. Paint don't mean crap if it isn't prepped right. Thanks people. Big help.

Your all set then Bearcamp.
Also, I've got a question for you. Can you still get Deltron in PA? They don't sell it in Ca. anymore. Just wondered.

It's PPG-Ditzlers brand of polyurethane paint. Like DuPont's Imoran. PPG is the paint of choice in Ca. At least around my parts it is. Do to air quality in Ca. they don't sell it anymore. I have like two gallons of this stuff for my 56 but I don't know if I have the hardner for it. Thanks
