Default Brute 650 or 750?

I can get a pretty decent price on a 05 650 brute with ATR Holeshot tires and the manual plow(promo) for 6589. Dealer also has 06 Brutes in, both 750 and 650's, not recieved my qute on those yet, but they will be more expensive. Internet shopping these, as I have no local dealer, and will be buying in the next couple days. All recalls have been done on the 05 models, according to the dealer. I used to own a P650, wich I loved, in 2002. Never seen a 750 brute in person, so have no clue of difference other than the IRS.

My question is,
1. is this a good deal on a 05 650?
2. Had you your druthers, would you get a 650 or a 750 (What is more dependable, having no dealer I would like least likely to need maintenance other than I can provide)
3. Would you pay a significant amount more for a 06 vice the 05 models of either.

Thanks

Terrible price, i'm looking at adding a Brute 650 2006, quote is for $6300, i'll negotiate down to 5900. The difference between the two is that the 750 has more power (duh) and IRS, while the 650 is a straight rear axle, many posts on the difference between rear ends. Enjoy!

klondikejim,

Is your price $6589 out the door? Or is that before tax, tittle and all that good stuff?

Thats out the door. No tax, because I live in Alaska, even though I am buying in Washington. Thats including the tires, and the plow, though the plow isnt installed. Just cant decide if I should go with that or pay more for the 750. Also wondering, now that I read reviews, if I should have them put on the Mudlite XTR instead of the holeshots. I am reading holeshots puncture pretty easily, and I am getting a radial, to get away from the punctures. Sharp rocks in the trails we ride here.

I just purchased a 2005 BF 650. OTD price was just under $6,500. That included the tax and the Warn 2500 winch deal (installed). The base price of the bike was $5,900. This was the best deal I could have gotten in my area and is pretty good. Mine also had the recall work done to it before it was delivered to me so no concerns there.

There seems to be a general consensus that the 2005 BF650 is arguably one of the best deals out there. I think so. I don't need the power of the 750 and I didn't want the IRS. Plus the 750 is more $$. The BF 650 was the perfect choice for me.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there are any differences between the 2005 and 2006 models for both the 650 and 750. If that's the case, why pay more for an '06?

If yours comes with new holeshot tires, I would also ask the dealer to install the plow and maybe then your OTD price of $6589 will be better justified.

$6589 would be a good price around here for an '05 BF 650 w/ plow and ATR's. Good move getting aftermarket tires off the bat because the stockers are junk. I would personally go with the Mudlite XTR because they have a little more meat on them. I also think you are making a better choice getting the BF650 over the 750. Why?...less moving parts = less potential problems, which is a good thing to keep in mind when you live in Alaska.

I think you got yourself a fair deal. If your dealer installed the plow sure, it would be better although it isn't that hard to do yourself. I would not pay a significant amount more for an '06 because they are the same thing. I had my '05 for 9 months now and the only problem I had was a torn CV boot from riding through thick brush and downed tree branches.

I just got an 05 BF750 (Green), in California, and I paid $6249 + $69 for the winch deal + tax.. (Also got the warranty for $400 4yrs) I had to ride the dealer ride for a week or so but I hear deals in this range are pretty common.

Having taken my new beast out I don't think you could go wrong with either...My guess is the spread between the price of the bikes will drive you. When I was shopping it was about $500 between the two. I knew I wanted the IRS for trailriding and family outings. Plus, stupid as it may be, my kid loved the round headlights vs the square on the 650... Now there is a reason to buy a new quad!!!

I was thinking the XTRs as well, as I hear the ATRs puncture easily. Stock rims on these, or go with a 14 inch series 7, and the27 inch XTRs. Not sure if the stock 650, or 05 750 for that matter would fit the 27 inchers. I thought the same thing about the less moving parts issue, with the 650. Specs put it at a little bit wider than the 750 though, and the trailer space I have for it, I need as much room as I can get. This will be going on my Starcraft 13RT front deck, which is only 46 inches wide.

Well, I made my decision. Purchased a 2006 750 with 27 inch Mudlite XTRs on stock rims, winch mount plate, promotional manual lift plow uninstalled, quoted as $200 dollar ATV ramps, helmet and goggles, for right at 8k. Bit more than I had originally intended, but think its ok, being that the bike alone retails at 7600. I own a 3.0 Warn allready and will install it when I get the machine, in a couple weeks. Should run fine with all else stock, until I get the cash/***** to attempt putting in any clutch springs. The 2003 Prairie I owned a few years ago, I never did put the springs in, as I was a bit intimidated by the procedure. I fix computers for a living, not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination.
