Most riders have solved problem by using good quality header tape & wrapping exhaust or getting exhaust pipes ceramic coated

ditto tuffenuf.

You can get the wrap (25' roll is enough) at BLR Motorsports website....I think it was about $25. I think it was on this forum that there was a fairly long thread on ceramic, wrapping, etc. I don't believe you need the wrap at the heat shield, which is difficult to wrap underneath it. The ceramic coat works better than the wrap for somewhere around $150.

There was quite a few complaints from new '05BF owners....haven't heard too much about it lately.

well I took off the left side mud shield and i feel a lot more air passing between my leg and the bike .It seems that the sheild was holding back the air flow ,remember this is a 2006 with the new mud deflectors installed.

Mine does the same thing and I have about 400 miles on it. Not sure why, but maybe the insulation is not enough.

My 05 model did the same thing I took it back to dealer. They turned on a brand new one and mine at the same time let them idle for about 10 minutes and mine was running almost 100 degrees hotter than the new one. They put it in the shop and adjusted some valves and now it runs fine.

Mine still gets hot with around 400 miles too. I even double wrapped the pipes in header tape, but I can still feel it when riding in shorts (not sure about pants, it's not cold enough yet). Someone told me that I may have better results if I re-jet but I don't like messing with that. Anyone ever tried dial-a-jet? How is it? Thanks.
