Default BF 650 electrical question

I'm in the mist of installing a winch on my new 06 BF 650, any one recommend a good "accessible" place to connect to the ignition circuit (power on when key in On position)? I looked around the steering column and no conector obviously left there by Kawasaki for us home installers. Tempted to tie into the 12 VDC port (cig lighter).

thanks,

Also, splicing into the brown wire that goes to the digital meter is another good idea. You can easily reach to the brown wire by removing the radiator cap access cover just below the handlebar on the front.
