mojaves

My dad bought our 1987 Mojave in 1992 in great shape. I haven't had any problems with it or my other one. All my friends ride 250x's 300ex's and 400ex's. The 250x never seems to run right and the 300ex's battery always goes dead, so we have to pull it to get it started plus you can never find the choke and its reverse sucks! THe 400ex hasn't has had any problems yet. I can beat everything but the 400ex on my 1987 and smoke the 400 on my 1990. Your bike must have been a lemon.

My friend has an 87' Mojave. It is a good bike, when it runs. He bought it in junk shape. It runs fine now after he fixed it. It's a nice bike. It has pretty good power. He has 22" something tires and it pulls them easily. Through 3rd gear his front tires come off the ground fairly easy. Of course, the quad is due for some new parts, but it is an 87. Any quad would need the same stuff.

You are insinuating not to listen to the other people in here when you say "these people in here just say the bikes are so good because they dont want to make what they own look bad". I just get a little more straight to the point, thats all. I dont have to worry about my stuff looking bad, i'd just sell my stuff and go buy something else if I wanted to. I bought a second Mojave because of ten good years of service at the time with my first one. And now have two good years of service with the second and twelve with
the first one. You say you need swingarm bushings every month, engine valves every week, and that it only goes 25 mph without overreving. I beleive thats pushing it a bit. You say your shocks are shot but your mojave used to be a good trail bike. Well after over ten years dont you think its time for the shocks to be wore out. If your dealer cant fix brakes, I'd find a new dealer. You say you spent all your spare time and 1500 bucks and just worked on it for a whole week and it still wont run. In a whole week I can completely rebuild a mojave including engine, trans, suspension, steering and aeverything else. You also mention in one of your post that you have two mojaves and that your dads has never given any problems. wonder why that is? why did you choose to tell about the problem one and not the other one untill later? Both of your mojaves are over ten years old. the 300ex hasn't been around that long yet but when they become 12 and 13 years old I don't think they will fair as well as the old mojaves have.
with all this said you are probably right that I should not have come right out and said not to listen to you. I'm sorry that I offended you and offer my appologies for that. I will continue to give my very strong opinions however, but will try to refrain from anything that seems like an attack on anyone as that was and is never my purpose.

hey mojaveaddict appology accepted When I said that the valves and swingarm bearings go out every week that was a little exagurated the swingarm bearings went out once and and the valves once and its sitting in the garadge now needing valves according to what another guy said in another one of my posts. I am no mechanic When I used to work on the bikes myself I could of messed something up by the way I commend you for being able to tear a mojave down to the frame and redo everything including motor in a week It took me 4 monthes to do this to my ATC It took me 6 hours to change the plug in my mojave because the front plastic has 22 screws in it and I never did completely remove it was attatced under seat somehow.Ended up cracking it.
Am looking for a new dealer they seriously cant fix the brakes they work but when you jack up the front end and turn the wheels you can hear them rubbing. They said this is normal try it on yours I bet yours dont do it.
