I am looking for some info from someone who owns a 400 4x4 or 2 wheel drive. I live on 155 acres, dont really ever ride anywhere else. Not planning on going mudding, but do have a few hills to go up,that get pretty ify in 2 wheel drive. My wife will be the main rider. 5 foot 105 pounds. She currently rides a 1999 Bayou 220, and will not always follow me on my Lakota. I bought my parents a prairie 300 2 wheel drive new in 2000. I enjoy riding the machine. My wife has ridden it also. My first question is how much difference is there in the sterring effort? Does the 400 have to rev up to start moving like the 300,off idle or the same. Would the top speed be about 60 mph. Is the machine vibe free, or better than the 300? Does anyone know the hp between the 300 and 400. The prairie 300 2 wheel drive seems pretty surefooted on these hills around my place. Since i want to get a new wheeler given you this info, should i pass on the 4 wheel drive? I would like a little more juice than the 300's have to offer. The kawi is the only brand i am looking for. I'm sure there are better machines out there, but i have had good luck with these kawis. I can get a 400 4x4 for 5200 dollars and a 400 2 wheel for 46oo dollars. HELP!

I have a 99 400 4x4 Prarie and it has much more get up and go than a 300, without the anoying hesitation off the line the 300 has. 2 or 4 wheel drive is a hard choice. If you could get the 2x4 with the digital dash and a winch that might be the way to go. I like the 4x4 for some muddin, but it's limited slip so you can get into trouble real quick. If you like the 300, you'll love the 400.
Mine would do 56 before I put 26" mudrunners on it. I think the new tires threw the speedo off, now it says 47 while my Uncles reads higher he's riding next to me.
