Cat scratch fever...plastic fender scratches
#1
sup' all'
anybody have any suggestions for plastic care?
my name is Jimmy and I have a four wheeling problem...LOL
part of the problem is, like all of us...scratches...anybody do anything about it, other than avoid the brush (which is a problem for me)...
I have been cleaning with an Orange Blast cleaner when I get back, it soaks and helps with the mud removal....last time I wiped the fenders ith WD-40 to give a oily finish and hope that to will ease the clean up...
is there anything you can do for the scratches?? or am I out of my mind even considering leaning up the light ones???

Jimmy,
Go to your auto parts store and get a plastic polish. I'm pretty sure mothers has a polish - you may be able to use the metal polish. There's also a product called Blue Magic.
It works very well on hard plastics like headlight/taillight lenses, etc. I'm not sure about softer plastic like fenders and stuff - but worth trying for a few bucks.

When I get scratches in my plastic, I take some ultra fine sand paper 1500 grit and wet sand the scratches out followed by 2000 grit
then I take 3m finess-it II buffing compound and buff back to a nice shine. It takes a lot of time and you need to know how to run a buffer but it works well for me. That's about the only way I know of to get rid of the scratches and it only works on the mild one's The deeper ones will dull up a little and the plastic will be nice and shiney all around it but they will still be there. Good luck and if you find a better way or if anyone else has a better way please share it
