hey newbeatle, thanx for the tip---i am presently waiting for my neighbor to machine me a new set of bushings---I think this will temporarily work (I would be happy with another year or two) then i think i will lean toward the comet clutch--it seems priced right and quality made--do you know what vforcejohn charges to redo one?? I would imagine with shipping and all I might be better off with the comet which would cost around $300.
thanx

I'm not positive... but I think much less than that... & he pays return shipping...
just from what I've heard on the Comets, seems that they have been difficult to dial in concerning the weights & springs on the Kawi's... but that is just hear say... I wouldn't think it would be too difficult my self but ???

I.ve got to agree with you on the tuning of the comet---as long as you dont mess with the secondary at the same time, the primary spring should be pretty easy to determine--I dont have a whole lotta experience with these clutches yet, but after taking mine apart i do understand how they work and what the springs do

Ok guys--just wanted to update all on the clutch situation---my machinist friend came up with the bushings for the weights and he determined that the pins that hold the weights on are worn--ronayers wants about $6 a peice for the pins plus shipping, and you need 4 pins--one of the rollers that the weights rides on is alsoscored pretty bad--I said ferget it and ordered a comet clutch today
got about $320.00 into it---will post the results

You know, just my luck!!! At first I needed molylube dry lubricant as specified in the instructions to assemble the comet--after e-mailing the comet factory and bitching at them for not including any in the clutch kit and asking them if there were any lube substitutes, they informed me that I should have bought a can when i ordered the clutch for $26 or something--this is outrageous but if I had known, I probly woudve ordered it--then my machinist buddy got me a can for free from his shop
Saturday morning I went down to install it and lo and behold, there are three pins that hold the weights on, and one of the pins is to long and too thin!!! And these were in a sealed package!!!!!!!!!
I contacted Comet monday morning in the am and they apologized and said they would mail out new pins asap
Wednesday night and here I sit with the clutch sitting on the floor and no pins yet!!
Getting scared that this comet clutch is gonna be a lemon--
If I dont have the pins in fridays mail I am gonna call them.
HAPPY TURKEY DAY ALL
