Default Hi!

Hi!

My name is Luis Fraga and I live in Azores, Portugal.

***Edited by ATV Connection Forum Moderator***

I just wanted to know if someone heard any rumour regarding a KFX 450.

I'm asking because the 400, despite the fact that it is an awesome quad, is a little underpowered when compared with the new 450s.
Besides, now that the kawasaki/Suzuki deal is gone, there won't be any more kawi 400s for 2006...

So they will have to build a 450.
Besides, they have a brand new engine for their kx450F motocross bike.

When will this come out?
2007? 2008?

This is important to me because people here don't like the 700...

Thanks in advance!

It's just rumors so far. Dirtwheels reported a few months ago that Kawasaki has been testing the heck out of YFZ's and 450Rs to figure out how to build theirs.

Another rumor from Dirtwheels is that it will have reverse. Pretty cool if they can do that and still keep the weight down!

The other rumor I heard (can't remember where) is that it will be called the Tecate 450.

It won't be a rebadged LT450R. This will be a completely new machine. Not sure about the specs of the machine, I don't think anyone except some people at Kawasaki know that.

I'd venture to say that it will be out for 07'. After seeing what Kawi has done with there 250f and 450f motocrosser, you can see that Kawi is really trying to come out with the best product in it's class. I wouldn't doubt it if it becomes the benchmark 450 quad. I'd also say it will have a aluminum frame and EFI.

This is just what I have put together with what I have accumulated in the last year. Im not positive about the features, but I would expect it here sometime next summer.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

An aluminium frame and EFI would be just amazing!

And reverse, too.
Although I highly doubt it...

If anyone finds out something, please post it here.
This is really important for me as a kawasaki dealer, because I live on an island and here all people buy is 450's.
Except for some raptors, of course.

As you can imagine, a kawi 450 is a HUGE necessity!

And the first one will be for me, of course!

Thanks again.

The first manufacturer that comes out with a 450 class atv with reverse will will be the class sales leader. Most riders who purchase these bikes are recreational riders with a few recreational racers thrown in for good measure, they are only purchasing these bikes because they are the latest and greatest and they use them on trails with the occasional mx and hs track use. The reverse would be a major selling point despite the extra dozen or fewer pounds it may add, especially when these bikes are typically very evenly matched.

I couldn't agree more, maddog56.

Reverse, at least for me, is very helpful, and of course a major selling point, just like you said.

And it's not all that heavy, as most people think!

Besides, most of the sales (I would dare say more than 90%) are for recreational riders, who ride trails on weekends.
Why not a reverse?

Kawasaki could at least make it an option!
If you don't want it, fine.
If you one, you should at least have the option to buy the version with it.

I "heard" it is going to be geared towards XC racing a little more that traditional MX. I think being geared towards XC would be a good selling point since it would be a little more trail oriented, hopefully meaning it will have reverse.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is XC?

I know MX stands for MotoCross.

But I'm not familiar with the XC abbreviation...
