185 Bayou starting problems...

Default 185 Bayou starting problems...

It's an 85.It won't start with the electric starter.It will whirl over like crazy,but won't kick.It will pull start within 3-4 pulls???

Any idea's?

Default 185 Bayou starting problems...

It sounds like there aren't enough amps going to the ingition system when the starter is used. A low battery or poor connections could cause this.

Default 185 Bayou starting problems...

I tried boosting it.
It turns over like crazy,just won't kick,but will pull start in 3-4 pulls.When it is warmed up,it will start with the push button???

Don't know if this will help any or not, but check everything with respect to ignition and fuel:
1. Replace the spark plug.
2. Be sure the air filter is clean.
3. Check the battery connections (and water level in the battery).

Another thing to check is the valve clearance. If the intake valve is too tight, is makes for tough starting when cold.

Default 185 Bayou starting problems...

My bayou 300 does this also, it will crank and crank with electric start just no fire, one pull of the rope and it is going, seems to be worse if it sits for over a week or so. I have not had any luck figureing out what the deal is either. If it doesnt start within 5 seconds of elec. starting I just pull the rope and it goes.
