Default copperhead cdi: what is it?

I've read a number of posts about this device. Is it applicable to the BF650i? If so, what does it do? Is the install easy?

It's a plug 'n' play replacement CDI for the Kawi's.

Unplug your stock CDI, plug it in, and pick up better throttle response and midband punch over your stock unit. The 650i uses the same model as the 750i.

It's fully programmable so you can tailor the maps and safety features for your riding style.

Its pry the best thing you can do to your fourwheeler without touching the engine. It really unleashes the power of the V-Twins.

What about the MOOSE Module how much of a difference between the two as far as performance?

emthood......the moose module is only good up to 5 mph. then its done serving its purpose which is to help your low end. The VDI Copperhead increases your low end, mid range, and top end. It greatly increases the throttle repsonse and also helps with cold starts. Its also plug and play like the moose and you can customize it and use it if you want to run NOS. Right now its the best thing you can do performance wise without touching the engine I think.

You have the HL module and the Copperhead. Do the two work in conjunction with each other for power gains? Have you heard anything on the Dynatek module?

The module and CDI and be installed together.

When the unit is shipped, it has a "stock" type setup in map #1. This includes the low speed retard that the module "fixes". If you have the Copperhead installed and the module, the module will disable the low speed retard, just like it did before.

But, just like in your stock setup, the module only gives you power between 0 and 5 MPH.

I had a module on my BF750 and it works up to about 40MPH. Where is everybody getting this 0 to 5 MPH info from?

On the 650/700's it's up to 5 MPH.

On the 750's it's up to 16 MPH.

When you run retarded timing to 16 MPH, the engine is pretty loaded down with fuel, so it would take longer for it to clean out (hence why it seems like it's working to 40 MPH).

But, in the CDI, the switch points are 5/16MPH.
