what spring or springs should i use with a vdi cdi and 26" mudlite tires my buddies prairie 700 beat me he also has a vdi cdi.

 

If you are drag racing and want that type of performance from your spring I would have to say epi red. I drag alot and have had good luck with it. I also trail ride and haven't had any trouble with the stall but then again I don't do extreme terrain. And I try not to get myself in really bad positions where the clutch stall could hurt you.

 

Fast, can you tell me what the spring ratings are on that EPI red? Anyone know what they are stock? Primary and secondary??

 

Check out this site. It will give you information on a bunch of different primaries. I have had success with the EPI maroon, but i might try the Dalton Orange/blue pring sometime in the near future.

do the fly weights make a big difference?

 

You just have to experiment with springs to see how they do for your machine. Sometimes it improves the performance, sometimes it isn't worth changing them out. However, you most likely won't lose performance by changing the weights. The springs are the most cost effective clutch upgrade. That is why a lot of guys have gone with changing just the springs out.

 

EPI red on a BF750 is not the best choice for a drag I dont think. I blew my belt and just put a red on to keep the belt grabbing tight. It definitely grabs tight now, but it also tops out at 50mph. I just ordered up an EPI black to try and bring the speed up. Good luck.

 

You mentioned belt grip from a red spring which leads me to believe you are using a red secondary. The EPI red primary is a high stall spring for drag racers. Try the pink or maroon primary to get your speed back up. Also, dyno tests have proven that the stock secondary is almost exactly the same as the EPI black secondary.

 

My bad, didnt read enough. I do have the pink primary in as well, no change. I have the black ordered.

 

No matter what primary spring you've got if your only hitting 50 on a 750 brute then your either running semi truck wheels and tires or you've got something else bad wrong.
