Default Taking rad side panels off P700 for cooling?

I am wondering for summer running, would it be a good thing to take the side panels( located on each side of the rad ) off my P700 to help the bike run cooler? I would think that this would allow more air to get through to the motor.

Is there some reason that these panels may funnel air to the rad? I also realize that you are opening up a pretty good hole on both sides of the front end to allow a stick or more mud than usual to get up into the motor. The new 750's have no side panels on them, although they are an option to buy for them.

Just wondering. Thanks

Don't do it. That's why 750 has that problem that 700 doesn't have.

Thank you. I kind of figured there had to be a downfall since I had never seen this topic on the forums before.

yes you are right the side panels ARE FOR COOLING that's why you want to LEAVE THEM ON. It also helps keeping your rad cleaner. .. infact if you close off the bottom with an old tube then it helps alot more.
