GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ' s worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.89 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

The problem with that idea is EXXON/Mobil sells their gas on the open market. As a matter of fact, all gasoline that is produced is sold on the open market, so when you go to RACETRACK, the gas they sell this week might be Exxons but next week might be SHELL's. I work as a chemist for a gasoline/diesel & alternative fuel company that is owned by SHELL and this I know to be true. The main problem is we are using a non-renewable resource at greater demand and we have not pushed alternative methods of transportation until the last 5 years. And, the big oil companies as well as OPEC have used their power in goverments to slow down alternative research with their lobby groups (special interest). Another problem is in the past, the consumers have not pressed the auto makers to make more fuel efficient vehicles as well as other alternative transportation technologies. When the consumer stands up by voting, speaking out and not purchasing goods like gas guzzler vehicles, etc......then the manufactures and producers will change because they are driven by the all might dollar.....GREED.

Another problem is the state and Federal tax which adds up to be 49 cents a gallon. Sorry to say guys high gas prices are here to stay. You can thank the people in Washington for that. The American people are their puppets, and until we fight back (which doesn't look like ever, because people really don't care) the government will control our lives.

Yes we are ran by the goverment, instead of the people running the goverment. However, even if you boycot Exxon stations, their gas will go to other stations to make up the difference. They currently have enough sales in other countries that it won't hurt them unless EVERYONE does it. And China is the next large market for gasoline. We (my company) are currently getting ready to build 8 desulfurization plants there for sulfur removal from gasoline & diesel. When that happens, more foregin crude will go to China for production, which will raise prices here. We have to force the goverment to make the big oil companies research more alternative fuels: ie. biodiesel, ethanol, methanol, hydrogen cell, electrollys, alkylazation, solar, wind generation, natural gas to liquidization, esterfication.....etc.

700 is right. I usually don't waste my breath on this stuff or anything like it but here goes my one and only.
1--If you don't buy from the companies, they just sell it to the companies you are buying it from.
2--If no one buys on Sunday...they just buy on Saturday or Monday
3--AOL or no one else will "donate 7 cents for every forwarded email"
4--A kid was not kidnapped from Wal-Mart

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

The ONLY way to lower the gas price is to reduce demand..this increases gas "reserves". The ONLY way to reduce demand AT THIS TIME is to drive less. Oh I'm sorry, I just put some of the blame on us. How dare I. We're not responsible for our actions! I forgot...it's always someone elses fault!!

Better get use to it, the good ol' days of cheaper gas are No-More.
$4.00 per gallon is real close and that is where it is going, no matter what any of you think you can do to lower prices by these "Gas War Plans".
Reduce the demand, prices will drop.
Stop buying stuff that is "MADE IN CHINA"..
CHINA strives on the U.S. Dollar..
My ITP C-series Wheels were "Made in China", no more of me buying anything anymore with that stamped on items. If I order something and it comes from China, I am returning it for a refund. May not and well not put a dent in these Gas Prices but it will make me feel better.

I agree with you 100%. I also work in the petroluem industry. However our freedom of choice is being stripped from us all by speacial interest group's. Take the power away from the stock holder's and problem solved.
