The weakest design/part on your 220 is the "plastic" gear of the oil pump. If that white plastic gear fails, your engine would be a total waste from top to bottom. If you operate (read "shift") the quad properly, this would not happen. However, some folks just ride in a high gear for all speeds even when the quad is barely cralwling - too lazy to shift down. This causes excessive heat from slipping clutches, and to make it worse, there is not enough engine rpm for the oil pump to pump oil to lubricate and cool down the hot engine parts. The plastic can't withstand the heat too long and they melts and breaks (heated plastic becomes brittle when it cools down due to quenching effect) - the end of poor air cooled engine. Proper shifting is very important on Bayous, otherwise they are bulletproof. If you are in a doubt, check the teeth of the plastic oil pump gear for any sign of wear or heat damage. If I were you, I would fabricate a steel gear and replace the plastic one. Other maintenance items are just like on any other quads - no special attention needed.
