Presently I got a Honda TRX300 1988 and the money I put on it was only for the oil change. This atv never broke and I was just wondering if the KVF 650 '02 was reliable or there is chance that it let me down in the middle of nowhere??
I read that somme people have problems with their 2002 and others say they never got a single problem. Who to trust? The one I'm planning to buy got 3,500Km and the belt was changed at 3,000Km. The recall for the front ball joint (or anything else) was also made this winter.
Don't really want to get rid of my Honda to get something who cost me a leg just for repairs.
Thanks!

kawasaki has a very reliable atv with the prairie. Many people probs accure when they dont use the right gear. When are you going slow, pulling, climbing, mudding, etc, you have to use LOW gear. Also, check on nyrocs site (do a google search of nyroc) were it tells you how to fix almost anything if you ever have a prob. It tells you how to adjust your belt and so on. Feel free to ask any questions.
Wouah fast answer!
Thanks for the website, I will look at it! But with the 650 I want to buy the guy give me the repair book for it. Don't know if I'm good enough to start doing some repair on an ATV with so much parts, big step from my '88 Honda, this one have nothing, if there's is something wrong it's easy to check because it's 'simple'.
The thing that afraid me the most it's the belt. It need to be checked and replaced 'often' so I want to do it myself. It is difficult to do? Do I need special tools?
Oh and another question, is that true that the 2002 clutch are cheap and need to be replaced sooner or later? Because it seem to be a costly part.
Thanks again!

I have an 02 KVF650 and its only let me down once. The Belt sensor went off at 1500 km which isnt bad to start with and i have a new belt on it now and its great through the mud and water. The rear brake is somewhat easy to lock up but i don't use it too often. I change the oil and filter on it every 500-800 km and its worth it to. I want this machine to last forever. I use Semi-Synthetic in it and its not too much different that normal oil. I have some accesories on it: tires, lights, rear storage box.
Its a good buy, but at 3500km, i'd be careful because mine just rolled over to 1900km and im going to replace some parts for saftey reasons (Bearings, Spark Plugs... ETC).....and the 4x4 takes 2-6 feet of driving to engage and you have to do it at a complete stop. I also love the way you control the front diff, it is fast and easy.
So i say, go for it!
