Default Weird low end sputter on 06 BF 750

My brute is very rough on the low end. i will let it idle and warm up for a while but it still likes to cough spit and sputter, sometimes light backfires(just like little pops) on the low end. it's in the first 1/4 throttle usually just while i rev it in neutral. is this a lean/rich issue?? planning on getting an aftermarket CDI will this help???

This is common of of most BF750's. Install a dynojet kit and it will all go away.

Not common on my '05 BF750 but it hasbeen rejetted and the Needle fix too when I bought it new in June '04.
This BF750 of mine is Perfect, best plug readings I have ever seen on any of the last 4 Vtwins I have owned.

I'm guessing you haven't had your 06 BF 750 for very long. I have an 05 that I purchased new about two months ago and at about 7 hrs. during the breakin period it started sputtering and hesitating as well at lower speeds. It was also making some vibration noises. I took a closer look and found that both the nuts that connect the front exaust bolts to the engine were gone which was causing the vibration and a gap at the exaust. I replaced them with lock washers and nuts and also checked the two in the rear which also seemed to be loose, but not gone yet. It sounds much better feels much better. It doesn't look like they even use lock washers on these bolts, which can obviously vibrate loose. I'm going to add lock washers to the two rear bolts as well and some lock tight on all four. Might want to check yours.....

Kawasaki does have a jetting update that the dealer should be able to hook you up with if it hasn't been done already. I have the Dynojet kit and it works great in mine. I have heard others that couldn't get theirs tuned in just right and ended up going back to Keihin jets and needles. Really, the most important thing is to get it jetted right whether you use stock jets or Dynojet.

For performance you need to upgrade to aftermarket tires if you haven't already. You will notice quite a difference in handling when switching from the stock tires. You will also notice a handling difference by widening the stance with wheels that have more offset or wheel spacers. For power gains get a CDI, air filter and exhaust. If you are jetted right these things will put your right up there with the Outy.

You are saying that Kawasaki will re-jet a bike like a recall if you are haveing problems with sputtereing and stuff. My buddy just got an 06 BF750 and it has a miss off idle and the tail pipe glows red.

Yes, Kawasaki issued a TSB which informed the dealers of a lean condition which allowed the burble at low speeds and contributed to a high EGT. The Dynojet kit and the Copperhead CDI make a huge difference. After this install good quality radial tires and C-Series wheels. Then look at the the aftermarket shocks available for the BF.

BFB750BF probably never noticed the low speed burble because he is around 5000-6000 feet elevation which seems about right for the way the BF750 is jetted from the factory.

Check out the photos of BFB750BF he has a real nice set up.

Do you have a URL link to this Kawasaki TSB on the jetting/needle problem? I have my '05 BF 750 in for the first service right now and I'd like to call the dealer up and tell them to look at that too if there has been a TSB issues on this......

Thanks for the info on the Kawasaki TSB on the Brute's. I just called the dealer and they checked my VIN and my Brute hasn't had the update yet so they ordered the parts and are going to fix it.
