Moose power module
#1
I have ordered a moose module for my 650V2 AC, and was wondering if any Kawi owners have bought this, and how it works with the V-Twin motor? Are you happy with it? Did it have a noticable increase in power? Was there any adverse affects to your quad like idle speed?

The Moose isn't going to give you any noticeable power. There is a low speed retard built into the Kawi engines to keep you from flipping the quad on a wheelie. What the Moose module, and all other "modules" will do is disable your low speed retard making it zippier up to about 5-10 MPH. There is really no trick to it. It just makes the timing the same throughout the curve.
If you want more power you will have to get a CDI. Both Dyna and the VDI offer full replacement CDI's that will advance the stock timing to 33* (Dyna) and 34* (VDI) throughout the curve resulting in more horsepower while disabling the reverse limiter and belt limp mode.
I would just leave your moose in the package and get a CDI for you AC. I have also heard thet the AC 650's are jetted lean from the factory. Before you do any performance upgrades I would recommend jetting a up a little. For more information on a great CDI go to www.velocitydevices.com they also have a snorkle to get more air into your Cat too.

For $88 bucks and the simply plug & play Module, I'd but it again for any of the Kawie VTwins if you don't need or want to spend the Bigger Bucks for the CDI's.
I got mine for the added power at take off, since I always ride at least at the 7,000FT Elevations, the added power is a big welcome. True, it is only there up to 7 or so mph but that is where I needed it anyway. Just ask my buddies who ride with me, they all have learned not to be sitting right behind my BF when I goose it from a dead stop or they will get sprayed with a bunch of dirt/rocks coming off of my rear tires..

Speaking of miles per gallon. What have you guys been getting with your Brutes/V2
I average 20.5 miles per gallon on a good day to 18 when I tear it up. .
I have an 06 BF 650 SRA with no mods.
After BFB's post, I am definitely going to get the Moose module. Sounds like a poor man's low end power increase to me. Heck, any mod that increases on the down low that is under a hundred bucks is a bargain nowadays.

I will buy the Moose from you. How do I PM you on this site? I will utilize PayPal as I can send anyone money with an email address. I have to take off for a little while, but drop me an email or something at nissanfan@gmail.com and we can work out the particulars.
Thanks,
Jon
