750 bf break in

Default 750 bf break in

i'm new here and just got my 06 bf 750 yesterday, wondering how everyone here broke theres in. it says half throttle for 10 hours. hw can you ride something that big at half throttle. i had a new 05 grizzly in june of 04 and to break it in i just took it out and wailed the **** out of it. took it through the mud and top speeds. what do u think

Break it in like you plan on riding it. The most important thing about break-in is fluctuation of speeds. Acceleration and deceleration are both important for break-in. To really set the rings you have to accelerate hard, decelarate hard and never cruise at the same speed for very long. Go on a trail ride where it requires you to go 45 down to 15 up to 30 and so on.

I change the oil and filter after about 20-25 miles to get all of the metal shavings out of the crankcase and transmission. This is not a requirement. You can take it to the dealer on your 10 hour and have it done, but why would you want your machine to be ridden the better part of 10 hours with a pile of shavings in the oil. It's best to get it out soon.
