Default KFX 700 JETTING disaster!!!

Hey everyone, great site seems very informative. Just wanted to know your guys opinion on my issue im having with jetting. First off, I have a 04 KFX 700, recent tune up, valves, oil, plugs.. etc. Put a EPI red spring in it with a new daycoHP belt.. Loved the results. Wanted to get some exhaust work done with her, so I opted for the white brothers e2 system with headpipes... So I got the pipes, and a Moose Stage One Jet kit. The guy at the dealership said I would need to re-jet afterwards. Installed the pipes and went for a test ride... The power came on so much faster on the low/mid range...Top end seemed even better also.. So i figure I might as well install the jet kit also... Came with directions, new adj. needles, lots of main sizes. Went with what it said for the elavation and all that. Just doesnt make sense to me. It had a 135/140 mains in it factory. The moose kit says to install a 124/128 main jets. Now this to me makes absolutely NO sense what so ever. Why would you want to lean it out that much?? Thats a pretty good jump if you ask me. As far as the needles go, i put the ring on the 5th groove as im below 3000FT. Adjusted the mixture screws 2.5turns out like it said and took it for a ride. Now very impressed at all. Seems to have no pull mid. or topend now.. So i put the stock mains in and left the needle alone.... Little more top end but still not happy with it at all.. Called whitebrothers tech support, and they said certain pipes they make require you to use smalled jets. ?? why is that? his reponse was, because. Say your going about 30 or 40 and punch the gas, it sputters for a second then picks up... (needle positions?) Just would really appreciate some help on this issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Bigdaddy, sometimes it is best just to go back to the stock jets. If you had it running well before the jet kit put it back the way it was. The jet kits are great if you can get them tuned in, but they aren't that much better than proper stock tuning.

One of the screwy things about Dynojet kits (Moose) is that the main jet sizes are different than the stock mains. There is an easy conversion from a jet kit to stock jets. All you have to do is add 14 to the jet kit main to get the same size orifice on the stock main.

For example if you have a jet kit 150 main it would have the same size orifice as a 164 stock Keihin main.

So by installing the jet kit 124/128 you are installing the same size orifice as a Keihin 138/142 which might be a little bit rich if you were running well with the stock jets. My guess is that you are putting too much fuel in.

Put the stock jets and needles back in. Runs better, but still would like more midrange...

1. Get Keihin jets, one/two sizes bigger than stock.
2. Shim the needles higher with tiny #4 washers, one washer (.02" thick) may be enough.
3. Pilot screws 2.5 to 3.5 turns out.
4. Throw the Dyna Jet kit in the garbage.

Do what he said and throw those junk Dyno jets in the trash and go to your dealer and get a couple sizes bigger. Make sure there keihin jets.

Thanks guys, i'll try that sometime this week and see what happens... Anyone had any luck sealing header bolts?? Tried locktite and nothing seems to want to hold... tried blue.. and the red stuff.. Don't recommend that White Brothers E2 System to anyone.. That thing leaks everywhere theres a seam.
