Default ITP Mudlite AT or XL? Please Help

Debating on going with 25 size on the AT or 26 size on the XL. What it would be worth the extra weight to gain the clearance on the 26's or should I go with the 25-8-12 adn 25-10-12 ITP Mudlite AT type? Ebay has a great price on the 25's ($209.00 for all four tires). I plan on keeping the stock rims and want the lightest, yet affordable tire upgrade over the stock Dunlops.

Any ideas are welcome!

thanks guys,

bubba

I have the same bike as you (2005 sra). I put the 26IN. Mudlite XL's on it . I would do it again in a heartbeat, the xl's have way larger lugs than the regulars and the extra inch of GC is nice.
I put a moose module in mine and I cant tell the difference in power from the horrible, shameful Dunlops to these.
I put 9's on the front and 12's on the rear.
Steers great.
Hope I helped.

Same bike here too. I got the regular Mud-Lites. 26x10s up front and 26x12s in back on stock rims. Check out the pics if you want.

You have pleanty of power. YOu can put 26s and not notice a difference.

Cavemandave: I didn't know you could get a 12" wide XL? Where did you get yours from?

No you were right, I messed up. I have the Mud-Lite XLs as do you. I get the Mud-Lite AT, XL, XTRs all mixed up some times. I thought you had 26x12 XTRs. They don't make XTRs in 12". Only 9s and 11s.

what's the difference between those three mud-lites. i think i know the xl seem to be a better tire because of larger lugs. does that mean since it has a deeper tread it will last longer? what's the xtr and what is better about it than the other two? thanks, i'm looking for a handling upgrade and little more traction for when i need it. probably keeping stock diameter for max speed.

Make sure you have the Mudlites looked at for defects before purchasing. All four of mine were out of round from the factory and I spoke with a dealer on Ebay who said that he has seen nearly half a dozen sets out of round recently.

It seems mudlites are very mass produced. Many dealers and ebay stores have them for good prices. Being as they are, there can easily be bad, out of round tires. BFG has the same thing with truck tires.

The regular mudlites in 25" aren't much of an upgrade if you ask me. I put them on my dad's machine (Xplorer 400) and they helped a little in mud, but not much. I don't care for the 10" wide rear tire either. 12's look much better and are better.

Mudlite
Mudlite XL bigger lug
Mudlite XTR are radial
I think there is also a mudlite XTT or something for the 30" tire

Hope this clears a few things up.

Personally I don't care for the tires, but that's my opinion.
