Default Installing Skid Plates???

How do you guys recommend I install my Ricochet skid plates? I know the installation instructions state to put the bike on end, but I don't have a fuel cut-off on my 06 Brute Force 650i so I don't want to flood it out. Any other ideas?

Also, any suggestions I should be aware of for those that have already done this?

Thanks again,
TC Man

i think you have a fuel shut-off valve under the seat, and underneath the bundle of wires going to the big black box. you need a screwdriver to turn the valve.

you may be able to get the skids on without standing the brute up, tho. i put a different brand (pro armor) on without standing it up.

I can take mine off, and put them on almost crawling underneath this beast!! 14" of ground clearance (with swamplites) helps alot On another note, i would like those skid plates (armor). But dont know were to get them for an AC. Any ideas?

You could probably just jack it up somehow. Somehow, lol.

I put a skid plate on my mojave by taking a creeper and laying down and going under it. It worked. Im only 17 and weigh 150 pounds so maybe easier for me without the beer belly. Any way the brute you should be able to get under.

I have done it both ways on my eiger. It is much easier to stand it up but with the help of a friend it is pretty easy for one person to hold the plate up and screw the bolt into the hanger and the other person on top holding the hanger in place and alinning the plate.

No need in standing up the Brute to install the New & Better (Best) Skid-plates you can buy.
Just use a small floor jack to hold your New Skid plate in position under the BF, align the mounting holes and bolt it up.

Well I did the install last night and I just jacked it up with my ATV jack and for the center skid I just did it from the floor. I had to drill out one of the pre-drilled holes because it didn't line up(Ricochet Skids), which really was a pain in the *ss. The front A-Arm guards were the biggest pain in the *ss to line up and then after bolting everything down I realized the left side brake line was being crimped when turning the wheels so I had to readjust them. Other than that it wasn't so bad. The result was worth it.
