Default BF 750 started making clunking noise.....

I had my '05 BF 750 at the dealership for a non related issue and as soon as I got it home and off the truck I noticed a clunking noise right away that was never there before? It doesn't matter if it's in low/hi 2 or 4 wheel drive. At low speeds when giving it throttle and letting off the throttle. It sounds like it's coming from the front differential or something else in the front end. It sounds like something's loose or banging noise. I only have 160 miles on the machine? Not sure if it's the 4x4 actuator, front differential, throttle??? I did purchase the 4yr. extended warranty so I'm thinking of taking it back to another dealer to see what they say. Any idea's???

I'm betting it sounds like it is coming from the lower left engine case right? My ' 06 650i makes the same gear drivetrain clatter. I've just come to accept and go on, as ive heard it is the case with pretty much all brute forces, such as when you have let off the throttle going down a slight grade coming to a halt, it will clatter and clunk a little bit while the electric engine brake kicks in. I just changed the oil on my 650i last night at 205 miles for break in, factory filter twist on turned out to not be fun lol. anyway gl

I think I found the problem. I was looking at the machine closer last night and see that I'm missing one of the two heat shield bolts which will definitely cause some noise. I new it had to be something because my quad did not make this noise previously. I'll get a new bolt and I'm pretty sure the noise will be gone.

chevyboy400. I paid about $425 for the 4 yr. extended warranty. I have friends that tell me I'm wasting my money on warranties, but whenever I purchase an extended warranty on vehicles, snowmobiles, quads, etc. they ALWAYS pay for themselves several times over.........

i'm sorry i should have posted the loose heat shield bolts earlier. its a notorious annoying thing, they all do it, i think because of the initial heat from break in and cool down. put some loctite on them and you'll be good to go.

my heat shield did the same thing to check and make sure it is that just hold the shield and rev the engine slightly and the noise should go away. then get a new bolt, careful who you ask. i went to one dealer and he told me he had to order the bolt and it would take a week to get in, easier to go to a hardware store

Ok... I don't mean to be basic here but I have owned my BF 750 for 5 weeks now and love it. During breakin I got this rattle. Brought it in for first check up and well, there was a bolt missing from the heat sheild and the other bolts were loose. Took the quad out for a good 6 hour ride. After the ride the rattle was back again. I want to fix this myself. I am new to the quad and plan on buying a service manual. Can someone tell me where the shield is or show me a diagram/picture? Appreciate the help :-)

it is a black piece of metal covering and bolted to the header pipe right above the pull stater. so if your sitting on it, its right inside of your left leg. you can see it and can get to the bolts without removing any plastic. there are 2 bolts holding the shield to the header. just back the bolts out or take them out (ha! if they are still in there) and put some red loctite on them and tighten them back down. give all the bolts a quick look, just to be sure(this should go for all bikes not just the brute). hope this helps!

the bolt to the front of the shield is somewhat of pain to get to. also i did the stupidest thing while riding. i thought i would check to see if the bolt was still tight.

hot exhaust + bolt = burnt finger

what an idiot!!!!!!!!
