Default Air box/filter kit

I hear all about the mods for the 02 prarie 650, and the problem with the air box. What after market air box is avalible? Can you use a small snorkel for more air? What am I gonna gain with these mods and kits, I like the idea of a small snorkel for more air, and the occasional mud romp. What is the best kit? Do I need to use the origional air box wit a uni filter?

Do a search for "napa hose" from 1-04 to present. you'll find some info there also check out diamondgracing.com. I think they may have a snorkle mod but I'm not for sure. I do know alot of guys were using a radiator hose and adding another intake snorkle to there existing airbox, you'll see in the search.

Intake snorkel would help you when going muddying, but it's not going to gain you more power. More air alone can't make power. You need to burn more fuel (& air) as well to make more power. Think of engine as a fast gas burning pump that requires a precise ratio of fuel and air (1:14.7). Either too much fuel or too much air would make the engine run poorly. Just like your body, drinking just water would not gain you more muscle. Sure your body needs water but you've got to eat beef to gain mass.

He's right. If you do a second snorkle or some other airbox mod like drilling holes in the lid then you'll have to jet up. My suggestion is install the snorkle mod and exhaust system you want along with any other mods you may want NOS then take your bike back to John's and put it on the dyno and tune it in.
