KFX400 - Will prolonged wheelies damage the engine?

Alot of times I ride in first, usually at very low speeds, and alot of times I'll ride just until I run out of room (which could be seconds or minutes). However, although I love to ride, I'm not quite the mechanic I aspire to be. Is oil getting to the engine when the unit is standing nearly straight up? Surely the engineers take fools like me into account when they build these units but I wanted to ask you guys.
Also, occassionally I end up killing the engine when I'm trying the ride a wheelie at idle and the unit comes to a sudden jerky stop and sometimes I end up basically on the handlebars (which is exactly why I wear the chest protector!). In your opinion, how hard on the unit is this (transmission, clutch, engine)? Also, what makes the engine hard to start when this happens?
Thanks in advance!

I doubt if you are going to hurt is wheeling. I have heard of streetbikes stalling out and smoking when they starve for oil when wheeling, but I have never seen such a thing on ATV's. I have heard of the 700's like mine getting some oil in the airbox from wheeling but it doesnt hurt anything. I think you will be fine doing your monster wheelies, just be careful!
