Default screwed up big time

I cross threaded my plug putting it into the rear cylinder on my bf750 due to the horrible angle on it. I had to remove the head and basically force the plug out. In the process I pretty much destroyed the threads. I took the had to a shop and they are planning on putting a thread insert into it(not a heli coil). What does everyone think would be the best course of action on this? Should I stick with what the shop is doing or go to a helicoil? Will the helicoil back out? Looking for someone who hopefully has some experience. Thanks.

The insert is prolly a press fit plug in the head that will put it back to just as good as new condition

Been there done that, I have used both types many times in my job and I will always go back to the thread insert over the helicoil by choice. The insert has 4 pins that get drove into the old threads after it is installed this will prevent it from ever backing out. Trust me, it will be as good as new.

Anyone know where to get the plug thread repair kit for a resonable price?
