If you run your motor hard, meaning alot of WOT then YES you should check them. The other thing is do you have a good battery, is it charging the battery? Kawi's use a dc cdi.

Final results...

We have been able to track down this "rich issue with the carbs". For the life of heck....you wouldn't think there would be issues concering what my quad faced. The mechanic was baffled for some time but was able to figure it out after a careful listening to all the type of punishing riding style I could throw at it.

The problem turned out to be that during high sustained speeds the oil started to flow into the outlet and into carbs causing it to run rich. The solution to the problem is to have your oil dipstick showing 50% (middle). The proper way is to screw the dipstick in to check the oil....NOT the quick tap in go! The quad is fixed and it passes emissions....I use the quad as street legal around town and climbing mountains!

Sorry for the long wait..... oh yeah the Moose CDI is fine...I learned alot about troubleshooting from my mechanic. Nice 50 year old guy taking his time to teach me. I owe him tons of beers and lunch.
