Weird Choke Issue with my BF 650i 2006 model
#1
I just noticed that my choke when press on doesn't even start up the engine at all. I have to give it gas very very little with the throttle thumb to get the motor fired up. Any ideas how to get the choke adjusted properly so when a cold morning comes it fires up right away? I have tried the choke on other 650 and 750 models and it appears that I am only the one with that weird choke problem.
I am a little clueless why this doesn't work for me.
Help would be appriecated!

Okay the carbs have been removed and I have access to the float bowl area. I located the pilot jet next to the main jet. The problem is when I turn the pilot jet counterclockwise then it wont stay in place since the vibs will make the pilot jet fall out. Do I find a mini washer and assemble the pilot jet with a mini washer and tighten it down?
When you say richen the pilot jet you are actually saying replace the pilot jet with bigger ones?
Keep in mind everything is stock and I am wondering if you guys have aftermarket jet kit.

As hayashi says dont replace jets yet , I dont know what his pm to you was but ,he ussually sounds like he knows his stuff. to me it sounds like you have exactly what you said a wierd choke prob. a bad spring or something, I would put it together and if still under warranty take it back and see if they will fix it. Dont tell them you had the carbs apart.

When he said richen it up he meant turn your air mixture screw out (counterclokwise)1/4 turn not your pilot jet. Your pilot jet like, your main jets should remain seated tight in your carb. Only time pilot or main jet is changed is if you are lean on top (main jet ) or bottom end idle to 1/4 throttle (pilot Jet; after you have adjusted/shimmed your needlejets). Doubt very serious that you have to replace your pilot jets unless you have extensive airbox mods or bigbore kit.

Thank you for clearing up the issues..
Let me start out what the problems were....
Moose CDI was messed up....TOSSED it out
CARBS need deep cleaning for whatever reason
Fuel enricher/choke was sticking to carbs.....fixed that
Cleaned out pilot jets, needle, and idle..
Removed stock airfilter and replaced with UNI and removed the air metal cage that sits under the air filter.
Adjusted the air screw for leaner conditions using a sniffer to detect raw fuel.
New spark plugs
The Quad fires up on cold days using the choke switch quickly.....it runs better.
Anyone care to explain why I might have a single misfire every now and then? The misfire was way worse when I had the moose CDI on it. The quad runs much faster and has quick acceleration than before but I want to know why these Brute Forces are having misfire issues. I work at a Kawasaki store and we are having some issues with misfires on customer quads. I still don't know what to start looking for to detect the misfires.

Have you checked the valves, '006" intake and .010 exhaust. Carb sycronization has to be spot on. This is what I do when they come in and new spark plugs, they run good little pop in carb intake when really cold but goes away when warm.
The other thing is the ground wires on right side under rear fender on top of fuel tank make sure not caroded, most of the time the fan won't run and pops the circut breaker and the hot light come on, on the dash. If you don't know call Kawi they know about these problems
