You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

Just got a KFX 700 and boy did I make a mistake. I had the air filter off and I happened to drop a small nut into the little hole at the rear of the airbox. It goes to a hose that is about 3/4 of an inch that runs back and into what looks like the engine block side of the clutch area. Anybody know about this hose and just how screwed am I?

I know about that hose becuse I ran my P650 on a three day prairie dog shoot in the dust of South dakota WITH IT DISCONNECTED!
I found it later and that was the last of taking it to the dealer.

That is a crankcase breather hose. I believe it goes into the crankcase but I could be wrong (If the engine is alot different than a P650).

I have retrieved small parts with a magnet attatched securely to weed whip line, might be worth a try.

Good luck, I know how you feel.

Thanks for the posts. I'm in a world of hurt. The nut I dropped was stainless, a magnet won't work. I will have to drain the oil and hope for the best.

Well, I got a little lucky. The drain hole was too small for the nut to come out, so I removed the battery and shift cables and removed the hose the nut feel down. Wow, just inside the nipple on the block was the nut, canted sideways and hung up on a very small ledge. I used a dental pick to hook the nut and out it came. What a relief. It won't happen again because I have put a screen in the hose so my fumble fingers can't repeat this experience.
