2007 360 Prairie (KVF)
Hello folks...again I have another question about my new 2007 360 Prairie (KVF) 4x4.
It's a belt driven automatic...my question is....right out to the box I was surprised at the feeling of overreving of the motor as you speed along through the moderate speeds. Then when my brother rode it and said the same thing, I thought I'd ask. I'm sure that this is how this unit works and that this is normal...the low double the rpm for the same speed so it's not locked up. Like I said I'm sure that this motor and tranny set up is for fairly high revving. I don't have a tach, I'm just talking about the feel of it...where if it were a manual tranny, I'd be shifting before the auto seems to.
So is this normal? What do you expect as a top speed from this rig. I just ride thru tight bush and swamp and speed isn't a factor with me but it'll help me know if my tranny is set up correctly.
Thanks

Probably there is nothing wrong with your quad. The feeling, engine running at high rpm, you describe sounds like normal for a CVT driven quad - you are always at right gear (actually at right pulley drive ratio) for the required load. TinyTach is cheap ($25?) and easy to install (only 2 wires) if you want to monitor RPM - it also keeps engine run hours.
