Outlaw 525
Ok, I may be in a little bit of trouble. My friend just bought an Outlaw 525, seems like it is going to be a really nice machine. From the information I have seen on the internet, the acceleration on the new Outlaw is pretty crazy. That being said, I think I will need to upgrade some things on my KFX 700. I plan on replacing the primary clutch spring, cheap fix with a lot of gain. But other than that what can I do (inexpensively) to squeeze more power out of my machine?
Thanks all for your time,
Sincerely,
Jeff

I've heard the dual pipes for kfx700 doesnt help much.Everyone I talk to says to do clutch upgrades.I havent done any mods on mine so I couldnt tell you from experience.I did race another kfx700 that had an aftermarket silencer and I beat him.I really dont think pipes help you much unless you've had some motor work.Just my opinion, dont want to start a fight.

I'm going to have some stage 1 hotcams avaliable for alot less than new ones around the first to the middle of next month. Open up the airbox some, cams, exhaust, propperly jetted, and clutched right they'll supprise you on how well they can run. Also you can call (765) 566-3083 and ask for Jim. He does clutch maching work and offers different stages depending on your bike and riding style. He's pretty reasonable on his prices and along with letting that 700 breath, clutching is a great mod. You can PM me if your interested in the cams.

Pipes help tons... and clutch mods help just as much. I have dual yoshis and they made a huge difference over stock. If you want cheap mods, drill your airbox (12 hold mod), and get a dalton clutch kit with an orange/ blue spring w dalton weights. That will help you, just keep the race short, doesnt matter what you do to your KFX, you wont gain hardly any top end. When the clutch is open, thats it, and there isnt anyway to gain much more. Pipes, clutch and you will hang with him, but dont get your hopes up on winning.

kfxandahemi is right. Don't get your hopes up about beating one unless you have engine work done. Replacing the primary spring will help a little to get a better holeshot and eliminate the "wall" the stock setup hits at around 40 mph depending on the spring you use. Using a pipe with a modded airbox and a little higher shiftout spring will get your bike up to speed quicker, but you won't be beating the outlaw 525 without internal motor work.
