Rejetting a 650i
#1
I'm new to this board and have a couple of questions. I'm thinking of the 650i for my next quad. I thought of the Sportsman 500 EFI, 700 King Quad, 700 Grizzly because of the EFI. Everyone says EFI is better for higher attitude and cold starts. I go to Colorado to hunt (Meeker/Rangely area) would I have to rejet the 650i to hunt these areas? I live in CA so after rejetting (if I have to) will the 650i run okay in CA? Thanks for all the infor.

I live and ride in Idaho. The altitude that I ride at are 4000'-8000'. I left the stock jetting from the factory in mine and it seems to run fine. If you were to re jet for the changes it would run better. But I don't seem to see any problems. Remember these things. Higher altitude and warmer temps ritchin. Lower altitude and colder temps lean. With this in mind you will have to ride it and see if it is an issue. For the most part it is very hard if not imposable to jet the same for two diff. extremes in altitudes and temps. Good luck with your choices.

nope. the 650i has two 34mm carbs. i have a 650i with stock jets in it and have never had a problem. i have ridden to 10,200 feet last summer and it never missed a beat.
the 650i seems less sensitive to jetting issues than most carbed atvs.

You know you said just what I was thinking. The way these 650 run I don't know why any one would ever want efi on it. Mine runs so good, I think it does have efi. It is really hard to explain to people how well they do perform with the 06-07 set up.
