Default Fuel pouring through air filter???

I was just curious if any of you had any ideas as to what may cause fuel to run out through the air box when I turn the fuel switch to the on position? The bike was running fine up until I put it away in my garage a month ago. It almost seems as though there is a valve stuck open in the carbs. Thank you for any help that you can provide.

Your needle and seat are bad in the carb or the floats are stuck......tap on the carb with the wood handle of a hammer....sometimes they will stick after the set for a bit

Thanks for the tip,,,,, I went and gave that a shot, but it didn't seem to help. I just ordered a carb rebuild kit off of eBay. Is it a fairly easy task to rebuild a carb? I have a factory service manual for the bike. Thanks.

Check your oil, if the gas is running out the air cleaner the rest of the engine is probably full of gas as well.

Yes it is very easy. Just pay close attention to all your small parts.

Well, I think that I found the problem. The large spring that rides against the diaphram on the top end was broke in three places. I guess I will have to go shopping for one of those tomorrow. Thanks for all the help.

That spring has nothing to do with the fuel flow until the bike is running, that is not the problem

That spring holds the needle into the jet until the engine creates enough vaccume, then the needle gets pulled up for more fuel

Thank you for the clarification..... I am not sure what was causing the leak then.... Hopefully it will go away when I rebuild the carb... Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of the Dyno Jet kit? I bought one a couple of years ago and never installed it, I thought now would be a good opportunity to put it in.
