I have a bayou 220 that has been having electrical troubles. I have finally decided that it is the voltage regulator, so I dis conected it and didn't blow the fuse. However when I hit the starter button, it just spins, so I pulled the case and the gear is spinning the wrong way. If I reach in and turn it the opposite way it turns the motor over? Not sure what is up, does it have something to do with the voltage regulator being disconnected?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
