04 Prairie 700 throttle sticking
I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the thottle sticking. Two times I have given my prairie a little throttle only to have it rev wide open on me. I tried to stop it by braking but that did not work. The shop that I ran into was what finally stopped it. I gave it some gas but not that much. It just took off as if I had nailed the throttle but I did'nt. And why would'nt the brakes stop it. My brakes are good too. It is not like that all the time, just on those two occasions. Luckily noone was hurt but if there is a problem, I want to fix it before someone does. Any help would be appreciated.

first comment I'll make is use your kill switch!!! it will save your life your brakes will not. The brakes can slow you down but you got a big machine there and brakes will not stop the amount of power half or full power. As for your problem I bet that the throttle line is pinched and needs to be freed up. When this happened too me I re ran the throttle line and put a heavier spring on the carb end. Also make sure your throttle it's self doesn't hit any thing. You might want to spray some lub down your throttle line.

Insufficient braking or using of Kill Switch is not the real issue here.
Throttle sticking should never happen. The real cause must be found. Two possibilities come to my mind in addition to that "pinched" throttle cable.
1). Jamming in the throttle reel cable assembly - open up the housing where the throttle cable end is at the carburetor side. Check nothing is loose and returning mechanism is freely working.
2). Jamming in the carb throttle butterfly valves (2) - Remove the air box. Look through the carb throats and check nothing is causing the buttlerfly valves to hang up open.
