try to jump the 2 posts on the solenoid with a screwdriver. if it doesnt turn the starter it could be that the starter needs rebuilt or replaced. if it does turn over the check the starter switch on the handelbars

Ok after working on the 220 more today I got it to start with the pull start but when i try to use the electrics nothing happens. is there a way to check if its the on/off switch or the startewr button? I have the neutral light on and when i try to start it nothing happens and the light goes out. also tried to cross the solenoid with a screwdriver and I got the same result nothing and the neutral light goes off and doesnt come back on? any ideas or suggestions what to do next? Im disabled and cant pull start it all the time thanks tim

to test the starter switch find the black/yellow and black wires comming from the handlebar and use an ohm meter. when the starter button is pushed you should get a reading when you let off it should be infinite. also check the fuse on the starter solenoid

stupid question.....battery? is it charged?
just b/c its new, doesnt mean it was charged. a new battery only has a light charge, and needs to be fully charged up before using.

I have the same problem on my sons 220. I can jump the posts on the solenoid and the starter turns over. I have also checked the starter switch on the handlebars and it is ok too. The voltage is nothing accross the button until it is pressed then it goes thru. but it does not turn over the starter. Any other ideas?

tim sounds like you need to tear the starter apart and give it a good cleaning and check the brushes. i actually just tore mine apart yesterday and cleaned it out beause it was only working sometimes
