Default Why does the 220 have independent suspension?

What are the advantages? With independent suspension, would it be harder to break the axle? Many of my friends who have quads have jumped their quads(utility), from grizzly 400s to honda recons, and they broke their axle. I've seen this kid who jumps his bayou 220, and he hasn't seemed to take in any damage yet.

It's not a true independent suspension, but it does allow for some "give" especially on a hard, off-camber landing. They ride pretty well compared to other older design atvs, but they don't turn worth a hoot at slow speeds or in off-camber situations either. They are a fun, low-cost atv for younger riders and those that ride more conservatively. Probably the best $1000 atv out there. (and please, if you are 12 yrs. old, happen to read this thread and think your Bayou 220 is the greatest motocross atv ever invented...don't waste your time and mine telling me I'm crazy.)
