Amazingly enough, she's running beautifully. I took the carb back apart after studying some diagrams and questioned whether I had fully cleaned each of the jets. I cleaned them all but having never disassembled a carb, I wasn't sure what i was doing. In taking it back apart, I discovered the starter jet which has a pin sized hole in it was still clogged. I did not even realize it had a hole in it the first time. Anyway, I cleaned it and adjusted the float, plus re-cleaned many of the other parts once again.

Put it back on and she fired up immediately. This is the first time this motor has been run in 3 years having sat half covered under a tarp in the hot summer and freezing winter of north Ga. I have not ridden it yet b/c i live in the city but will know more tomorrow.

Anyway, thanks to those of you who offered helpful tips.

Very glad to hear the good news. And don't feel the least bit guilty for the relative who would not take the time to address the problem. Thankfully, it is now in the hands of someone who appreciates it and is willing to take care of it.

The best way to keep this problem from happening again is to install an inline fuel filter. Your local auto parts store should have several different types. Just be sure it will fit the inside diameter of your fuel line.

Again, glad to hear you have it running.
