I have an '06 Bayou 250 with about 150 miles on it. I was going for a short ride this past weekend and it will not down shift past 4th gear. It will go up to 5th and back to 4th but will not go lower. It runs find in the higher gears, no noises just won't down shift further. I can pull start it as the starter will not work unless it is in neutral.
I have taken good care of the ATV and don't beat on it, I am well out of the warrentee. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Greg

Check to see if
> Spring borke in the clucth shoe area.
> Primary clutch locking tab is bent or not. Should be bent . If not, then the primary clutch would have come loose and lock up.
> Shift drum retainer screws came loose or not. If they did, apply locktite when retighten them to prevent future failure.

this recently happened to my blaster, but as i was riding home it sliped out of gear and wouldnt go into gear at all.. so i took it in to yamaha and it was a broken shift drum.. not saying this is what happened to you, but it would cost alot if i didnt fix it by myself, so i would look at the shift drum
