Give me a few days. Camera got wet and will not turn on. Will send pics when I get another camera. I can tell you the entire set up looks like it was designed just for the 220. But like a said will send pics when I get another camera.

Hey bmj67. I posted a few pics on my profile of the airbox lid, airbox, snorkle, and the 220. Check them out and tell me what you think. If you need help installing the snorkle let me know. Took abour three hours to dry fit everything and another hour to seal and secure it all. Not too bad a job and well worth it.

I am assuming you are referring to Bayou 300, not P300.
Yes, Bayou 300 also has the plastic oil pump gear. You have to remember that there is something you can do to prevent the oil pump gear melting.
DO NOT RIDE IN HIGH GEARS WHEN RIDING SLOW. This really heats up the oil.
Oil cooler, oil temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, thinner weight synthetic motorcycle specific oil (not automotive), etc. would help, in addition to a metal gear which may or may not be available. As the plastic ages in the heat, it becomes brittle and weaker due to gizzilion heat cycles it has gone through. Replace with a fresh one if you would keep it for a long time.

Yeah I have an old junkie Bayou 300, the auto clutch will slip a bit when it is cold, its weird. I'm not entirely too worried if it blows up tomorrow, poor thing has been totaled once (only the frame was cracked in half do to head on collision.) I was able to buy a frame from a 96 bayou for $10.50. I might even just part mine out. The rear brakes a shot, due to pitted drum sealing surface, im just tired of changing the diff oil every time I go in water. It still drives nice, but it ain't pretty.

You can look at pics of my son's Bayou 220 in my profile. I went through the engine, bored it .50 mm and put a Wiseco piston in it. The Wiseco piston is stock compression ratio on these, so I don't think you'll gain anything just from it. I also port matched the head ever so slightly (it's pretty decent stock) and cleaned up a some minor casting flaws in the head. Can't exactly call it a port job though. I found a stock 400 EX takeoff muffler on Ebay and modified it to fit. It sounds pretty good and with a KN jet kit it runs pretty well for a B220. We've ridden from sea level to 9000 feet and it will leave my Prairie 300 4x4 in the dust.

I was hesitant to put the 23" Dirt Devils on it, but after doing so it pulls them really well. If it had it to do over again I think I'd put some 23x7-10 Maxxis Razr 2s on the front. It wanders a little at top speed...don't know if the Razr 2s would have helped this, but the aggressive Dirt Devils on the front are totally unnecessary. I only put them on the front 'cuz they're pretty cheap and 6 ply. The fronts are 23x8-10 and the rears are 23x10-10...all on ITP steel wheels. They're kind of a heavy combination, but necessary where we ride (rocks and cactus). Again, it has plenty of power to pull them.

I don't understand the one comment about the Bayou 250 being slower. Practically every part number in a 250 is the same as the 220 with the exception of the piston being 1.0 mm larger. Perhaps there is a jetting change, but they should run the same if not ever so slightly better than a B220 with proper jetting.

Hope that helps...

i wouldn't say that the 250 is slower but it is detuned for sure. the 220 has a compression ratio of 9.3:1 and the 250 has a compression ratio of 8.9:1. also the 250 is not a true 250 its only 229 cc so the 250 has 14cc more than the 220 but because of the lower compression on the 250 they both put out 17hp at the engine. if wiseco were to make a higher compression piston for the 250 like a 9.5:1 it would beat the 220.

Slight correction to the power spec:
Both 220 and 250 do NOT have 17 HP. Instead, they have 17 PS (published in Kawi's manual) which is equivalent to 16.76 HP. I know I am being picky here but just want to let you know all that some Japanese companies use PS as an unit for power output instead of good old SAE HP that we are familiar with. This unit PS (came from German: Pferdestärke = horse strength) is no longer a popular nor a lawful unit in international automotive industry, but is still commonly used in Europe, South America and Japan, especially by the motorcycle industry and metric countries. It was adopted throughout continental Europe with designations equivalent to the English "horsepower", but mathematically different from the British unit. Think of PS (Pferdestärke) as a metric horsepower.

Another little more important fact about the spec is that 220 makes the peak power at 7500 rpm and the 250 does at 500 lower rpm at 7000. Same thing with the peak torque - 220 does at 6000 rpm and 250 at 5500 rpm.
