I'm at a loss!! I've even gone so far as to replace the wiring harness. If you come up with anything please let me know and I'll do the same.

Thanks

Somebody on these forums had an electrical problem and everybody thought it was the battery. It was the starter relay. Somebody else had a problem and everybody thought it was the kill switch, cdi, coil, etc and it ended up being the voltage regulator. Sometimes we end up being very surprised at the solution. I think you are going to be one of those cases.

You should still do the mod. http://forums.atvconnection.co...catid=9&threadid=98232

Yeah, try switching the wires on the stator. I replaced the stator on my 230 quadsport and didn't have any spark. In the directions, it said to switch the wires in the stator if no spark before calling tech support. So, I tried that and got spark. Worth a shot. It didnt make any sense to me, but it worked.

What did you finally find out about the problem. I am having the one spark issue with my bayou and cant find the problem. I am getting 30-40 volts off the stator. When I check for spark, it only seems to spark right after I let go of the start button. There is no spark while I have the start button pushed in and the motor cranking. I have checked just about everything. I have even gone as far a s buying a CDI off ebay and that didn't fix the problem. (It makes me nervous that I cant even prove if the new one is working properly). If some one lives in the STL area and has I Bayou I would pay you a few bucks to to hook upthe CDI to you quad to see if I get a spark. it will work on a 1988-1994 I believe mine is a 1992 220

If anyone has any thoughts let me know please.. This is just driving me crazy

Is the pick-up coil any good? The bayou is about the only quad I can think of that actually has an adjustment for the pick-up coil. The coil should measure 85-130 ohms. The exciter coil should be 100-190 ohms.

I don't know... Its been a month since my last comment.... I forgot what I had in mind. IF you get the manual, it has procedures for testing the cdi and all the other stuff. The bayou is the only quad I know of that you can test the cdi.
