Default ethenol in gasoline causing major problems

Just took my bayou klf 400 to the dealer, because my carb was leaking gasoline, apparently the ethanol causes inlet to stick in carbs and the result is you
have to pull out the tank and clean , and replace the inlet jet and clean the carbs,
there was four other machines in the dealer for the same thing. It costs 280$ to perform this service. There is an additive that must be added to the gasoline you use so it doesnt happen again. Just a heads up to others, as I was unaware of this situation. In my 650 prarie the gasoline winds up in your crankcase and can seize your engine. After I get my bayou back I will be bringing in my praire for the same service. Its bad enough to pay over 3 dollars a gallon and then it does all this damage. Just a word of caution, everyone should get the additive and use it .

Do they not post this crap on the pumps in your area either?

Apparently, they are not required to or something, which is a load of _ _ _ _!!!

I am going through all sorts of crap with my outdoor power equipment because of this myself. I don't know if it is ethanol or methanol, but I'm here to tell you that it destroys several types of rubber compounds. The fuel lines break down (melt off) into the fuel delivery and finally something clogs up.

The easiest solution, is to do what it says in the owners manual. Turn the gas tank off, when the machine is going to sit for longer than a few hours. And if you run the engine til it dies.....No more carb problems. This will leave the float bowl empty, and there wont be any gas to evaporate and leave deposits. No need to put in any additives, just leave the float bowl dry when the bike is gonna sit.
If you have one of the vacumn operated gas valves, just open the float bowl drain, after the motor has been shut off, and let the little bit of gas in the bowl drain out...as long as the float bowl is empty, you wont have any issues, next time you go to drive the quad.

Nope... it eats some rubber compounds used for fuel lines and carb parts alive over time. It doesn't seem to take a high quantity percentage mixed with the gas to do it either. Not to the point of the mixture being posted on the pump like E-85 or whatever.

Thats not true, running your carbs dry allows air in to the system which then oxidizes
carb parts and then the carb must be taken apart and serviced. Turning the fuel off
by the shutoff is a good thing to do after each outing. The additive is really the only solution. Boat owners are having problems with the alcohol seperating from the fuel and eating away at their fiberglass tanks, which cant be easily replaced. 3$ + a gallon with so many issues, its impossible to buy gas without the ethanol in the NE.

What additive are they telling you to use? 280 bucks to clean stuff up and replace one jet?! How much is this additive?
Do shut off your petcock when done riding. Also make sure the petcock even works. On older machines it will come apart from friction of using it and let gas through anyway. Mine will also add gas to the crankcase if it sits for a long time.
