Glowing exhaust pipes

I've been told that glowing exhaust pipes on a 05 Brute Force 750 are normal. If this is normal, what does all this heat do to the exhaust valves? Any experts on this?

I have heard that in order for the EPA to be happy, that Kawie had to lean out the brutes a bit, which in turn will cause the cherry red pipes. I have heard this from a few different sources. My 06 650i will have glowing pipes when I run it hard.

Thank you for your response. I figured that the EPA was behind it. I almost set the dry cornfield on fire the other day because of the pipe heat. It's uncomfortable, too!
But 05 750 Brutes have a history, <u>however slight</u>, of dropping valves. Aluminum melts at around 1200 degrees F. And I don't know how the cylinder head could take this heat in contact with the headpipe, cooling system or not. The valve seats are in aluminum after all.
The spark plug will indicate if the chamber temperature is lean with a white ceramic insulator on the elctrode. But it doesn't indicate the exhaust valve temperature. Or does it? Are the new valves made to take this kind of heat?
Does anyone else have an opinion or verified information about this glowing pipe thing, which typically indicates an overly lean condition?

My 03 Prarie 650 4x4 use to to that, the guy at the Kawi shop said there was too much carbon build up in the can. I had a friend rev the quad up while I beat the s_ _ t out of it. You wouldn't believe all the carbon that came flying out of it! Now it doesn't glow anymore.

I've never tried the exhaust beating, but I wouldn't think that I need it with only 68 hours on the machine and it's lean from the factory.
Apparently a lot of guys have this issue and aren't worried about it. I'm mainly worried abut the<u> exhaust valves</u>, and to a lesser degree the amount of heat on my legs and rubber parts.
Will Dynojet needles and kit cool it down a bit without hurting performance?
I shimmed my needles on the Prairie 650 before I bought the brute. After the shimming and richening of the carbs, it runs great! Smooooth... But I know the Brute is a different animal.
