Default Bayou Shifting problems

Hello all! I am having shifting problems with my 1990 Bayou 300 4x4 . The bike upshifts fine but when I try to downshift from 4th to 3rd, 2nd, 1st the shifter sticks. If you tap the shifter with your foot when it sticks the lever will move back into place and upon downshifting again it will once again stick requiring an aditional nudge of the foot for the shifter return properly. Any idea what could be causing this? Bad return spring? How hard is it to replace the return spring?

Also I am having one other problem that might be related. I can shift directly from 1st to reverse. I have adjusted the reverse screw 1,000 times to no avail.

HELP ME PLEASE

I dont know much about the 300 bayou, but it sounds like something inside is either gummed up badly or a spring has broken. If there is nothing on the outside that rubs the shifter, I don't know what else to say except gonna have to tear into it. You can try bikebandits micro fiche and see what the inside looks like. Its under the OEM replacement parts section. Now, I've had shifters stick before, but it was always something on the outside that had to be bent out of the way.
