I don't have my manual handy, but the factory setting is around 2 turns out. That's just a ball park and not etched in stone. You really need to set it by adjusting it when it it's warmed up. Set the idle at a normal idle and then slowly turn the idle mixture screw in until the idle starts to go down. At that point, screw the mixture screw (needle) out in 1/8th turn increments until the highest idle is reached...but not a bit more. To verify your setting, slowly turn it back in and the idle should start to drop. Basically you want the highest idle, but not any more. Also, you may have to slow the idle back down while you're adjusting the idle mixture screw if it gets to fast.
Those little squirts are fun to drive in a wierd kind of way. No suspension in the back at all. I put 22x10-10 (take-offs from our Bayou 220) tires on the back of ours and it still has decent power to pull me around (190#) whenever I ride it. It will hit 35 on the flat. I've also thought about putting a double a-arm suspension in front and a swing arm in the rear. My 9 year old likes it and I'll probably keep it around for grand-kids someday.
Hope that helps.
