Less than 1 day and you can have it apart and back together if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, and have all the parts/gaskets you need. I sent my cylinders out to be bored, and sent the heads out to be ported. I did the actual build myself. I also run 36mm carbs off a CBR600.

well a have a machine shop with manual lathes and mills and cnc lathes and mills. could i do this my self? like if i bought the kit. how hard would it be?

For now , since you just got it, I would just do the pipe ,jetting , and airbox mod. You can also add the clutch spring if you want. See if you like these mods and go from there. Like vbalz said, there are alot of other things you can do to the big v-twin internally once you get down the road to that point.If you do the airbox mod, dont forget to block off the main air duct to the airbox; you won't need it once the 12 air hole mod is done. The guys on the 700 site and kawieriders have done these mods and are pretty satisfied with them from what I read. I am anxious to do mine!
